The Mama behind Decanted

Julia Walderzak
Chief Wine Officer

Julia embarked on her entrepreneurial journey 15 years ago, founding successful ventures driven by an inner spark and a dynamic spirit. Notably, she pioneered H2K, a mobile-based children's fitness company that transitioned to franchising in 2017. Julia's fascination with wine grew during her tenure in the New York City restaurant scene. After the 2020 shutdown ended her fitness business, Julia launched Decanted wine truck and mobile bar—a thriving venture that took off right out of the gate.

Academically, Julia holds an undergraduate degree from Hofstra University and a graduate certification in Event Management from NYU. Her diverse professional background includes roles as the Special Events Coordinator for Dylan's Candy Bar, where she collaborated on high-profile events with industry luminary Dylan Lauren, and as the Special Events Manager for Citi Field. Additionally, Julia founded Perfectly Planned Events, a boutique wedding planning company based in NYC.

Beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, Julia, a devoted mother of three, cherishes quality time with family and friends, particularly when accompanied by good food and great wines.

Jen Buckalew
Marketing

Jen is our marketing maven and has been involved with marketing for the better part of a decade. She has worked with everything from big companies to startups.

Before she did all things marketing, Jen worked in the wine and spirits industry for many years and was the Scotch Ambassador for Empire Distributors in Atlanta, GA (ya'll).  She also made wine along famed wine maker Jordan Fiorentini at Chalk Hill winery in Sonoma, California.

When Julia met Jen it ONLY made sense for her to do the marketing for Decanted - and maybe some scotch education and wine tasting too.

Jen and her husband love their two doggies, and are owners of an organic farm in Westborough, MA where they make and sell jams and honey.

Jessica Montejo
Lead Bartender/Florals

Jess started as one of our amazing bartenders and is now General Manager of Decanted!  You’ll usually see her serving up delicious cocktails out of our campers and carts when she's not keeping things running behind the scenes.

Have you seen the photos of some of the gorgeous flower arraignments we offer?  Those are all created by Jess!  Yup, she not only helps manage all aspects of Decanted plus work the bar - she also has her own floral design company – Maidenhair Floral Design (named for her favorite plant – the maidenhair fern).

Jess has been a florist for over 20 years and has worked many showers, weddings, parties and  even teaches floral design classes!

Jess lives in Hudson with her husband and is a mom to 2 humans and 2 cats.  She loves a good pinot grigio and knows all the words to every Disney song ever made.  Don’t test her on this.  You will lose.

Tammy Johnson
Bookkeeping

Tammy is our bookkeeping baddie and makes sure all of Decanted’s financial affairs are in order.

She’s been here right from the start making sure our “lil’ startup that could” WOULD!

She owned her own company (like a boss) with her husband for 25 years before it was acquired in 2016.  Since then, she has worked in the finance area with many small startups and non-profits providing financial and management solutions.

Tammy has lived in Hudson all her life and has 3 grown kids and a dog.  She definitely sees her dog more than the kids, but LOVES when they can all be together.
